Somerset Wind Energy Center is a six-turbine, 9-megawatt (MW) wind farm located in Somerset, Pennsylvania.
The six 1.5-megawatt turbines at Somerset produce about 25,000 megawatt-hours of electricity or enough electricity annually to supply about 3,400 homes.
Exelon has a 20-year agreement to purchase the output of Somerset Wind Energy Center. The facility is owned and operated by FPL Energy.
The average annual capacity factor of Somerset is 30 percent.
Somerset Wind Energy Center came online in October 2001 to meet the demand for clean, green electricity from leading corporations, universities, and individuals in the region expressing a preference for pure, fuel-free electricity.
