Mountaineer Wind Energy Center is a forty-four-turbine, 66-megawatt (MW) wind farm located in Tucker & Preston Counties, West Virginia.
Exelon has a 20-year agreement to purchase the output of Mountaineer Wind Energy Center. The facility is owned and operated by FPL Energy.
The average annual capacity factor of Mountaineer is 32 percent.
When it came online in December 2002, Mountaineer was the first wind farm in West Virginia, and the largest east of the Mississippi River.
