Mandatory Load Reduction Program
The power to save can bring great rewards.
Participants get maximum guaranteed monthly savings/credits for reducing energy use when requested by PECO. Even if we never call participants to reduce their energy, your company receives the same financial savings. And, because these requests take effect only during time of system emergencies, participants help the community by conserving energy and reducing the risk of blackouts by helping stabilize the power grid.
This program, also called Interruptible Load for Reliability (ILR), is ideal for customers who can guarantee to reduce their energy use when requested.
ILR Program Logistical Highlights
- Participation – Minimum reduction of 100 kilowatts each time energy reduction is requested.
- Advance Notice – At least one hour before an energy reduction request.
- Energy Use Reduction Duration – No more than six hours for each energy reduction request, on weekdays between noon and 8 p.m.
- Payment Date – A monthly credit will be applied to the bill.
- Penalties for under/non-performance – Maximum compensation is reduced by one tenth for not participating in PECO’s request to reduce energy, not to exceed the total compensation credit.
- Contract term – One year beginning each June 1.
