Status of Zion Station Synchronous Condensers
Current Status:
Future Status:
Due to ongoing equipment issues, one of the Synchronous Condensers at Zion Station will be unavailable at least through December 1, 2008. During 2008, ComEd’s analysis shows that no NERC Reliability Standards will be violated. In 2008, ComEd will install capacitors at locations throughout its transmission system in order to mitigate potential post-contingency issues and maintain compliance with Exelon Transmission Planning Criteria and NERC Reliability Standards. PJM and ComEd are developing tactical plans to maintain reliable system performance in the event of additional equipment outages in excess of applicable operations and planning criteria.
