Exelon's Stay in School Partnership

The Stay in School Initiative is Exelon's partnership with the United Way focused on spurring graduation rates and stemming truancy in three Chicago communities with some of the highest dropout rates in the city.  Students who participated in the Stay in School Initiative last year had a 93% graduation rate, well above the 55% average in Chicago Public Schools.  These results are part of an annual report card that was issued last week.

2007 Community Highlights

  • Exelon made nearly 3,000 grants, totaling more than $21 million, to nonprofit organizations that focus primarily on education, environment, neighborhoods, development, and the arts.
  • Exelon awarded our first Leadership in Community Service awards to those employees whose volunteer efforts make a difference in our service areas.  The nearly 1,900 Exelon employees enrolled in the company's volunteer program provided more than 33,000 hours of service.
  • Exelon spent $476 million with minority- and woman-owned businesses, earning us recognition as the 2007 Corporation of the Year by the both the Chicago and Philadelphia regional affiliates of the National Minority Supplier Development Council.
