Military Transition

If you have decided to end your active duty service in the military, consider Exelon as the next step for you. At Exelon, the most important energy resource is our people. By finding individuals with a passion for their work and a desire to excel, we have created a 1.5 million customer power distribution company that generates more electricity by nuclear power than any other power company in the United States and is third in the world.

Exelon has been recognized as one of the “Top 50 Military-Friendly Employers®” by GI Jobs. This is the first time Exelon has been awarded the honor, joining a group of elite companies on the sixth annual list. There were approximately 2,500 companies eligible for the rankings and only 2 percent made the list.

Employees with military experience are a highly pursued source of talent. Next to college campuses, the military is the largest source of new talent in the country, producing nearly 400,000 workers annually. Exelon hires about 100 veterans per year and currently has more than 1,600 veterans working throughout the company.

Exelon’s recruiters look for individuals who possess more than job skills. Through battlefield training, veterans have obtained leadership and management skills. Military veterans also have the skills to easily adapt to any environment and have critical-thinking skills that can increase efficiency and workflow.

To continue to position Exelon as a military-friendly work environment, recruitment has been attending military fairs and participating in the Transition Assistance Program (TAP) Employer Panels, helping military veterans make a smooth transition to a civilian lifestyle. Exelon recently met with Military.com and RecruitMilitary.com to develop partnerships and discuss ideas to attract more military talent in the future.

The November issue of GI Jobs highlighted Exelon as a “green” employer. With the growing popularity of renewable energy resources, and the Exelon 2020 initiative, there are a growing number of employment possibilities in the power industry and at Exelon for veterans.
