Byron Station will host its annual Community Open House on Monday, Oct. 7. The event will be held from 4:30 to 7 p.m. in the Training Building at 4450 German Church Road. The Open House features simulator tours, hands-on activities, informational booths, a bus tour of the Natural Draft Cooling Towers, and light snacks and drinks.
The Open House gives visitors an inside look at how the plant safely generate enough clean-air energy every day to power more than 2 million homes and businesses.
Here are a few areas you can see and learn about during the event: control room simulator, nuclear fuel rod replica, cooling towers, post-Fukushima actions and robust plant designs, dry cask storage, environmental work, maintenance work and training, and radiation protection.
