This year's Earth Day brought forth a special theme that we can be especially proud to celebrate at Quad Cities Station-- minimizing plastic pollution.
From poisoning and injuring aquatic life, to littering our rivers, parks, streets and highways and clogging our landfills, the exponential growth of plastics being used around the world is threatening the health of our planet.

Quad Cities Station has a long track record of environmental stewardship. One notable change recently was the upgrading of our drinking fountain systems. New fountains were installed that minimize our reliance on plastic bottles by providing water dispensed for reusable bottles. The fountains also track how many water bottles were refilled compared to using disposable bottles. These fountains are just one example of bettering the local environment.
The fountains have been installed around the station for approximately two months. In that short amount of time, we have conserved the equivalent of 84,350, 20-ounce plastic, disposable water bottles at Quad Cities Station.
That is phenomenal conservation for our station and our planet! We remind employees to please continue to use the fountains with reusable water bottles, as opposed to plastic, disposable bottles. There are more than 20 fountains around the site.
