Achieving positive change in the community
Mary Walker is the Director of Talent Management and Acquisition for PECO and has served on the Board of Directors at ACHIEVEability (ACHa) for over 5 years. ACHa works to permanently break the cycle of poverty for low income, single parent and homeless families in Philadelphia through higher education, affordable housing, supportive services, community and economic development, and accountability.
In her current role as Board Director and Executive Board member, Mary supports the organization’s mission and goals by addressing leadership challenges and recruiting quality team members. As co-chair for Food for Thought, Mary used her expertise in talent management and organization to raise over $500,000. Motivated by their interest to support vulnerable families, ACHa will use the Achievement Award grant to continue to aid the city of Philadelphia and its families.
About Exelon’s Energy for the Community Volunteer Awards Program
Exelon makes grants totaling $200,000 in honor of 24 outstanding employee volunteers for their work in the community. Nonprofits will receive grants of $5,000, $10,000 or $20,000. Since 2007, the awards program has recognized 180 employees and provided more than $1.3 million to their nonprofit partners.
At Exelon, individual initiative drives our success.
Volunteerism is part of who we are. Our employees are purpose-driven in their work – and also on their own time. In 2016, 6,700 Exelon employees spent more than 171,000 hours volunteering with nonprofits in the diverse communities we serve. We encourage them to track their hours so we can recognize and reward their work.
