Approximately 80 Exelon Generation employees from Peach Bottom, Limerick, Kennett Square and Power Labs attended Peach Bottom EAARA’s (Exelon African American Resource Alliance) inaugural event, “Silence is A Statement: Understanding Race in the Workplace” Lunch and Learn. The afternoon featured an honest conversation about why we don’t talk about race, why we should and how to do so in productive ways that increase understanding and trust in our workplace, which was facilitated by Allison V. Manswell, CPLP Talent Management Expert, Speaker and Author ofListen In: Crucial Conversations on Race in the Workplace.
A message from Peach Bottom EAARA Site Lead Romaric Nsidze:
On behalf of EAARA, I would like to thank all those who had a hand in making our Black History Month Lunch and Learn a success. First and foremost, we would like to thank all the attendees for their support, engagement, and listening openly to the topic of discussion. I was pleased to see many attendees were members of Exelon Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), which shows that our ERGs are a powerful cadre of employees who demonstrate teamwork and support for one another. I would also like to thank Peach Bottom’s Senior Leadership Team for supporting the event and giving us the platform to have this important discussion. A special thanks to Operations Director Dave Henry for kicking off the event, Blaine Ferree for sharing his personal story, and Allison for doing a great job presenting the topic. On all accounts this was a memorable event and an important step toward building a diverse and inclusive workplace.
