POTTSTOWN, PA (June 1, 2016) — Operators removed Limerick Unit 2 from service today at 9:00 a.m. due to an electrical component malfunction that impacted the unit’s recirculating water pumps. The pumps circulate water in the reactor and are not required for safe shutdown.
All systems responded as designed and Unit 1 remains at full power. Technicians will repair the component and fully test the system before returning unit 2 to service.
