The unit was manually shut down by operators Jan. 23 to allow technical experts to repair an obstruction on the unit’s turbine generator cooling system. The unit came back online Wednesday at 9:26 p.m. with power ascension completed Friday.
LaSalle Generating Station is located about 75 miles southwest of Chicago near Marseilles, Ill. At full power, the facility’s two generating units produce more than 2,300 megawatts around the clock, enough electricity for 2.3 million typical homes.
