MARSEILLES, Ill. – Operators removed LaSalle Station Unit 2 from service at 8:06 a.m. Monday to inspect an obstructed valve on the unit’s turbine generator system.
All systems responded as designed. Technicians will address the blockage and thoroughly test the system before returning the unit to service. Unit 1 remains at full power. The Unit 2 shut down will not impact electrical service to Exelon customers.
At full power, LaSalle Station’s two generating units produce more than 2,300 megawatts of carbon-free electricity, enough to power more than 2 million typical American homes. LaSalle Station is located about 75 miles southwest of Chicago near Marseilles, Ill.
