MARSEILLES, Ill. – LaSalle Station Unit 1 automatically shut down at 11:09 p.m. Monday due to an electrical issue on the non-nuclear side of the plant. Operators responded and all safety systems functioned as designed. While the unit is offline, technicians will repair, inspect and fully test the electrical system before returning Unit 1 to service
LaSalle Unit 2 remains offline in a planned refueling outage that began Feb. 6. Neither outage is expected to impact electrical service to customers.
At full power, LaSalle Station’s two reactors produce more than 2,300 megawatts of carbon-free electricity, enough to power more than 2 million typical homes. LaSalle Station is located about 75 miles southwest of Chicago near Marseilles, Ill.
