LaSalle Station employees participated in a variety of seasonal projects to make the holidays brighter for those less fortunate. An employee coat drive collected 126 new coats for children to wear during the harsh winter months.
During December, a tree adorned with 182 colored stockings that each represented a child's holiday wish, sat in the station's main entrance. Employees collected every single stocking, purchased and wrapped the gifts, helping provide a happy holiday for the children and relief for parents in-need.
The station also donated $1,000 to "Shop With A Cop" programs in Marseilles, Ottawa and Seneca. This annual event pairs police officers with children for a breakfast and shopping trip for themselves and family members.
For entry to the station’s annual holiday celebration, attendees were asked to bring non-perishable food items and baby care products. More than 500 baby items, including diapers, wet wipes and other baby products were delivered to Under His Wings in Ottawa, and nearly 700 non-perishable food items were split between the Marseilles Food Pantry, Ottawa PADS and the Streator Food Pantries.
