MARSEILLES, Ill. — Exelon Generation operators removed LaSalle Station Unit 2 from service at 4 p.m. Tuesday to perform maintenance on a pump that circulates water through the reactor.
Technicians will make repairs and test appropriate systems before returning the unit to service. Unit 1 remains at full power. The Unit 2 shut down will not impact electrical service to Exelon customers.
At full power, LaSalle Station’s two generating units produce more than 2,300 megawatts of carbon-free electricity, enough to power more than 2 million typical American homes. LaSalle Station is located about 75 miles southwest of Chicago near Marseilles, Ill.
