Since 2006, R.E. Ginna Nuclear Power Plant has granted holiday wishes for local families through the Wayne County Action Program (WCAP). WCAP offers vital programs and services to help people in need within Wayne and the surrounding counties. Each year, WCAP provides Ginna's elves a list of wants and needs from about 20 local families.
Ginna volunteers prepare festive, sparkling gift tags and decorate a holiday tree. Employees select tags from the tree and bring wrapped or bagged gifts back in time for the delivery date, where Ginna's elves once again spring into action, loading all the gifts into their sleighs. WCAP connects the families and gifts, making the holidays much brighter for those in need.
In addition to ensuring the gifts for each of the 20 families are complete and accounted for, Ginna supplies items for holiday meals for up to 60 families served by the Ontario Food Pantry. This is just one of the many ways Ginna employees give back to the community that has supported the plant for nearly 50 years.
