Laying the foundation for kids to succeed.
Allen Na, a technical analyst for Exelon Generation, has volunteered at Frederick Douglass Christian School for more than two years. The school serves students in Chester, PA, a community with the lowest school achievement index in the state.
Allen provides ongoing IT support to the school’s administration, staff, computer lab and dental clinic. In 2015, he completed a school-wide installation of cabling, access points and routers that enables internet access in all classrooms and offices. Allen’s hope is that students are motivated and excited to pursue an education and dodge the negative influences they are confronted by in their neighborhoods.
At Exelon, individual initiative drives our success.
Exelon's executives serve on hundreds of nonprofit organization boards. We also field Exelon teams of volunteers and help employees find community service opportunities. But what impresses us the most? Employees' drive to volunteer for causes that they're passionate about.
Volunteerism is part of who we are. Our employees are purpose-driven in their work – and also on their own time. So far in 2016, 6,500 Exelon employees have spent approximately 138,000 hours volunteering with nonprofits in the diverse communities we serve. We encourage them to track their hours so we can recognize and reward their work.
