Walkers and runners from Exelon Generation's James A. FitzPatrick Nuclear Power Plant and Nine Mile Point Nuclear Station recently participated in the JP Morgan Corporate Challenge supporting a good cause, getting in their steps and educating anyone following behind them about the benefits of nuclear power.
Proceeds from the 3.5 mile run/walk held at Onondaga Lake Park will benefit On Point for College, which helps local students find and apply for financial aid to go to college. Participating in the event also counted towards the company's Health Steps wellness program.
Exelon employees enjoy being active in our local communities and giving back through events such as the Corporate Challenge. They are also passionate about advocating for the importance of nuclear energy in our country's clean air energy plans. Nuclear power currently makes up approximately 60% of our nation's carbon-free energy – producing more clean air electricity than all other sources combined.
Keep an eye out for our employees at future community events and feel free to ask them questions you may have about nuclear energy!
