Exelon contributes $3,000 while 25 employees volunteered around 85 hours assembling packages of clothing, food and diapers for local mothers and children in need during National Volunteer Month

CHESTER, Pa. – Exelon Power Eddystone Generation Station partnered with CityTeam Chester, Pa. to support its mother and baby care program. As a part of National Volunteer Month, twenty-five Exelon Power employees volunteered around 85 hours assembling food, diapers and clothing packages for mothers and children in need around the greater Chester, PA community. Exelon also donated $3,000 in support of this important effort.

“CityTeam Chester provides such critical services to those in need in the Chester, PA area, and Exelon Power is proud to partner with them for our seventh year,” said Exelon Power Sr. Vice President and COO John Barnes. “We believe it’s important for our employees to support causes in the communities in which we operate, and CityTeam Chester is a great example of an organization making a significant impact on the people’s lives.”

CityTeam Chester is able to provide food and shelter for 7 days for 10 people thanks to Exelon’s donation.

“We are eternally grateful for the continued support of our corporate partners such as Exelon,” according to Nancy Craskey, development director at CityTeam, “Without their help we would not be as successful as we have been in supporting those in need.”

The fastest growing population of poor and homeless is single parents with young children. CityTeam Chester works with low-income parents to ensure that their children maintain a healthy environment by providing diapers, formula, baby food, car seats, strollers, cribs, and emotional support to each mother and her children. They also provide Christmas toys, Easter baskets, backpacks, school supplies, and a Family Camp. CityTeam Chester helps over 700 parents each year in the Greater Delaware Valley Area.
