Delmarva Power’s Doug Hudson and the Selbyville Volunteer Fire Company

At Exelon, individual initiative drives our success.

For more than 15 years, Delmarva Engineering Fieldman Doug Hudson has been helping his community by saving lives and tax dollars. He is serving his third term as President of the Selbyville Volunteer Fire Company, but also serves as a Fire Police Officer and an engineer on the fire trucks. Doug is certified in CPR and when needed, has driven the ambulance. Coming from a small town, he wanted to help his neighbors in their time of need.

Off the truck, he’s responsible for constructing the annual budget, implementing cost savings projects, and recruiting new volunteers. He was recently elected as Second Vice President of the Sussex County Firefighters Association and for the next four years, he will travel across Delaware representing both the Selbyville and Sussex County Fire Departments. The Achievement Award grant will help the Selbyville Volunteer Fire Company purchase a LUCAS Chest Compression System for their ambulance.

About the Exelon Energy for the Community Employee Volunteer Awards Program

Each year, Exelon makes grants totaling $200,000 in honor of 24 outstanding employee volunteers for their work in the community. Nonprofits will receive grants of $5,000, $10,000 or $20,000. Since 2007, the Awards Program has recognized almost employees and provided more than $1.5 million to their nonprofit partners.

At Exelon, individual initiative drives our success.

Volunteerism is part of who we are. Our employees are purpose-driven in their work – as well as in their free time. In 2017, 7,808 Exelon employees spent more than 210,000 hours volunteering with nonprofits in the diverse communities we serve. We encourage them to track their hours so we can recognize and reward their work.
