Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant employees spent several weeks in December helping local Patuxent Appeal Campus Head Start Program complete a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) Center for 4 and 5-year-old students. Employees from the Plant's Women in Nuclear (WIN) and North American Young Generation in Nuclear (NAYGN) volunteered their time to help put together equipment, build learning centers, and decorate the walls with some actual pictures and prints from the Nuclear Plant.
Calvert Cliff's Engineering Manager Dave Baker along with the volunteers from the WIN and NAYGN groups joined Calvert County Public School staff for the Ribbon Cutting on Friday, January 19. The 68 current Head Start Students that currently attend the Patuxent Appeal Campus will use the center daily, developing our future local engineers and community leaders.
