Byron Generating Station posted an incredible Capacity Factor of 97.5% in 2018! What is a Capacity Factor? It is the actual output of a plant relative to its total output if it were to operate at full power over the same time period. Byron Station's Capacity Factor of 97.5% is incredible considering there was also a scheduled refueling outage in 2018 which required the unit to be offline during that maintenance project.

While we need to continue developing renewables like wind and solar power, their Capacity Factors – about 25% for solar and 37% for wind – simply cannot match those of baseload generators like nuclear power, which are also carbon-free electricity generators.
Employees were also responsible for some great Community Outreach achievements, including:
- Donating more than $200,000 to local charitable organizations and non-profits in 2018
- Hosting a successful Open House with more than 500 attendees
- Inviting 1,200 family and friends to a summer Family Day event at the facility
