POTTSTOWN, Pa. - Limerick Generating Station Unit 2 resumed producing electricity at 10:02 PM on Monday, Feb. 28 following repairs to a support system for the electrical generator.
Limerick Unit 2 was manually taken offline by operators at 9:10 AM on Friday, Feb. 25 due to a problem with a support system for the electrical generator. The plant responded as expected, safely and without incident. There was no risk to the public and no injuries associated with the event.
Limerick Unit 1 continued to generate electricity during the Unit 2 outage. Limerick Generating Station is located approximately 21 miles northwest of Philadelphia. With both units at full power, the site can produce enough carbon-free electricity for 2 million homes.
