CORDOVA, Ill. (Sept.12, 2009) - Operators at Quad Cities Generating Station returned Unit 1 to service at 8:22 a.m. today following the completion of a maintenance outage. The unit was taken offline at approximately 2 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 9.
Plant personnel completed the required repairs and performed additional preventative maintenance activities while the unit was offline.
Quad Cities Unit 2 continued to operate at full power during this period. Electrical service for Exelon customers was not affected while Unit 1 was offline.
Quad Cities Generating Station is approximately 150 miles west of Chicago. With both units running at full power, Quad Cities generates enough electricity to power approximately 1 million average American homes.
