Holtec International to Purchase Oyster Creek Generating Station

Exelon Generation, the owner of the nation’s largest fleet of nuclear energy facilities, and Holtec International, a global leader in used nuclear fuel management technologies, have entered into an agreement for Holtec to purchase Oyster Creek Generating Station.

Under the terms of the agreement, which is subject to regulatory approvals, Holtec will assume ownership of the site, real property and used nuclear fuel. As the site’s owner, Holtec will manage all site decommissioning and restoration activities. 

“This landmark agreement is good news for Oyster Creek employees, the Lacey community and the state of New Jersey,” said Bryan Hanson, Exelon Generation’s chief nuclear officer. “Holtec’s commitment to the nuclear industry and its presence in New Jersey will allow many of our employees previously facing relocation to continue living and working in the Garden State.”

​Oyster Creek Hall Of Memories


Oyster Creek is more than just a power generator. It's an institution. It's a landmark. Most importantly, it is the thousands of men and women who have passed through our station, leaving an indelible mark on the region, the industry and the nation. 

In spring of 2018, Oyster Creek unveiled a new “Hall of Memories,” to showcase the station’s legacy. To date, hundreds of employees, family members, retirees, elected officials and local residents have explored the museum-quality display to learn more about how Oyster Creek has impacted the region. 

Ultimately, the station intends to donate sections of the Hall of Memories to local historical societies and museums so that Oyster Creek's Legacy lives on through generations! The Hall is open by appointment and for special events. To learn more, contact Oyster Creek Communications Manager​.
