 Pacilio is responsible for the safety, efficiency, and reliability of Exelon Generation’s more than 100 power-generating units in 19 states. The company’s 14,000 employees operate the largest and most competitive clean energy fleet in America, which produces more than 31,000 megawatts of power from 10 fuel types, including nuclear, natural gas, hydroelectric, wind, and solar. Exelon Generation, a leader in addressing the effects of climate change and helping the country move toward a sustainable future, powers more than 20 million homes and businesses while safeguarding the environment and boosting regional economies, with revenues of more than $17 billion and total assets of $49 billion. In addition, Pacilio manages Exelon Generation’s growing international business portfolio, which has operating partnerships in Japan and the United Kingdom. 

 

Professional History

Pacilio has more than 30 years of experience with the company. Most recently, he was Exelon Generation’s chief nuclear officer and president of the nuclear division. In that role, Pacilio was responsible for ensuring that Exelon Generation maintained the highest levels of performance and safety across its fleet of nuclear reactors at facilities in Illinois, Maryland, New York, and Pennsylvania.  

Previously, he was the chief operating officer for the nuclear division, overseeing the daily operations for Exelon Generation’s nuclear fleet. During his career with Exelon, Pacilio has held numerous leadership roles, including that of senior vice president for Midwest operations, site vice president for both the Clinton and Braidwood stations, plant manager at the Clinton Station, and a variety of management roles at the Dresden and Quad Cities stations.  

Among other accomplishments, Pacilio led the U.S. nuclear industry’s development of two national nuclear emergency response centers during the 2011 Fukushima events in Japan. Exelon’s nuclear fleet consistently set the U.S. industry standard in operational efficiency and safety over Pacilio’s four-year tenure as chief nuclear officer.  

 

Education

Pacilio holds a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana, and a senior reactor operator certification from the Dresden Nuclear Power Station in Morris, Illinois. He completed the Exelon Leadership Institute Program at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, in Evanston, Illinois, and the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School in Cambridge, Massachusetts. 
 

Family

Mike and his wife, Cheryl, live in Geneva, Ill.
