Energize your career at Exelon!<br><br> PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES<br><br>- Provides gas and electric emergency first response service on Company systems, metering and regulating equipment, customers gas piping, and domestic and small commercial gas appliances on customers premises. <br><br>- Installs, changes, maintains, and repairs gas meters and regulators including but not limited to placing Industrial and Commercial customers on bypass. <br><br>- Provide investigational support to local authorities with regards to carbon monoxide incidents. <br><br>- Investigates reported gas leaks and takes action necessary to protect life, then property and eliminate the hazard. <br><br>- Responsible for first response to all reported gas emergencies, including, but not limited to: struck gas lines, fires, outages, explosions, and asphyxiation cases: Investigates causal factors and reports action taken. <br><br>- Demonstrates working knowledge of gas distribution facilities and appliances, gas meters, pressure regulators, gas fuel line systems, and underground Company gas piping systems. <br><br>- Inspects Company facilities in accordance with National, Federal, State and local regulations, laws, codes and rules. <br><br>- Activates and terminate gas and electric service. <br><br>- Gas service work includes: meter work (activations, terminations, removal, and change out), piping work <br>(including bends and installations) performed in compliance with Gas Engineering &#CD# Construction Standard Work Practices. <br><br>- Electric service work includes: meter work, activations, terminations, and removals. <br><br>- Uses Computer Aided Dispatch System with Mobile Data Terminal (mounted in service van) to receive work orders. <br><br>- Prepares material orders, time sheets, warning tags and field reports of findings and actions taken. <br><br>- Responsible for direct contact with the customer requiring emergency service work. <br><br>- Responsible for resolving customer concerns and inquiries. <br><br>- Knowledgeable of National, State and Local Codes to all work performed. <br><br>- Keeps truck stocked and reorders material and equipment. <br><br>- Uses hand tools, power tools, and test instruments, such as the combustible gas indicator. <br><br>- Required to respond to emergency call-in and unscheduled overtime. <br><br>- Note: Subject to rotational shift work including holidays and weekends. <br><br>- Drives in all adverse weather conditions responding to emergencies. <br><br>- Work can be physically demanding. <br><br>- Individuals will work under adverse conditions, required at times to enter vacant / abandoned properties. <br><br>- Physical stamina necessary to work extended shift hours, perform heavy lifting and pulling. <br><br>POSITION SPECIFICATIONS<br><br>Minimum: <br><br>- Knowledge of the operation and design of gas appliances, gas metering equipment and small commercial appliances. <br><br>- Ability to operate computers. <br><br>- Ability to meet Company driving standards, including a valid drivers license. <br><br>- Must pass U. S. Dept. of Transportation-required chemical test. <br><br>- Demonstrated ability to adequately handle emergency situations, to communicate effectively and to handle associated paperwork. <br><br>- Completion of the Companys two year apprenticeship as a Gas Mechanic Trainee or equivalent combination of formal education/training and experience. <br>
