The Exelon family of companies includes Exelon Generation, Exelon Transmission Company, ComEd and PECO which share a corporate services and support unit, Exelon Business Services Company.

Exelon’s facilities are mainly located in the Midwest and Mid-Atlantic regions, as well as the state of Texas.  Our corporate Exelon is headquartered in Chicago, Illinois while its operating companies operate across northern Illinois and southeastern Pennsylvania.  We also have facilities in Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey and Texas.

Generation and Marketing

Exelon Generation is comprised of 3 business units:

  • Power Team markets Exelon’s generation and power contracts. 
    The retail marketing arm of Power Team, Exelon Energy, sells electricity and gas to commercial and industrial customers in deregulated areas.
  • Exelon Nuclear manages the fleet of nuclear plants. 
    The consulting arm of Exelon Nuclear, Exelon Nuclear Partners, advises clients on operational and management model practices to improve nuclear plant operation. (Visit ExelonNuclearPartners.com)
  • Exelon Power maintains the fossil (coal, oil, and natural gas), landfill gas, hydro, wind and solar-powered fleet of generating assets.  Exelon Power’s clean energy fleet is separated into three divisions within the business unit: Exelon Wind, Exelon Hydro and Exelon Solar.

Transmission

Exelon Transmission Company, announced in 2009, is a new national venture that will seek to capitalize on the growing national market for new transmission lines. (Visit ExelonTransmission.com)

Delivery

Exelon owns 2 utility companies:

  • ComEd serves northern Illinois, providing electricity to approximately 3.8 million customers (Visit ComEd.com)
  • PECO serves southeastern Pennsylvania, providing electricity to 1.6 million customers and gas to 490,000 customers in Philadelphia. (Visit PECO.com)
