Power Generation
Fossil, Hydro and Renewables

Exelon Generation serves the growing energy needs of the Mid-Atlantic, Northeast and Texas regions, plus the city of Chicago, with safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible fossil fuel and hydroelectric power generation. Through power purchase agreements for three wind farms located in Pennsylvania, and one located in West Virginia, Exelon has become the largest provider of wind power east of the Mississippi River.

The current fleet of fossil and hydroelectric generation, operated by Exelon Power, is composed of 109 units that provide approximately 8,000 megawatts (MW) of generating capacity using a variety of fuels.

The diverse fuel mix complements Exelon's base load nuclear assets. By doing so, it allows the company to remain competitive in the deregulated utility market by ensuring power during the intermediate shoulder seasons and peak demand times when prices for energy are high.
