Gas Rates Fall

Natural gas rates begin to fall with warmer weather (March 2006)

While many gas production facilities in the Gulf of Mexico remain closed following the hurricanes last Fall, a mild winter caused a moderate decrease in wholesale natural gas prices. Utilities like PECO can adjust their natural gas rates on a quarterly basis. So on March 1, 2006, PECO reduced its overall gas rate by 5.2 percent.

Natural gas prices are still higher than they were at this time last year, so it is wise to continue to be mindful of your energy usage.

Considerations that may impact the amount of your gas bill:

  • Your energy usage may be impacted by the weather during your billing cycle, the size and energy efficiency of your office, thermostat settings and the number of people in your office.
  • Your bill may reflect an unpaid balance if we did not receive payment before sending your current bill.
  • Older, less energy efficient equipment can use significantly more energy, especially on colder days.
