Good news for winter - lower natural gas rates! (November 2006)
As a business person, you'll like the good economic news about PECO's natural gas rates:
- Rates fell for the fourth straight time on December 1st.
- The new rate is about 24 percent lower than the same period a year ago.
This lower rate will remain unchanged until at least March 2007.
Lower rates go straight to your bottom line. Your business is able to enjoy this lower rate, stable through the coldest months of winter, because:
- Compared to last winter, more gas is being produced nationally and more was placed in underground storage for the winter.
- PECO worked hard to bring you better natural gas prices by buying gas in a variety of ways.
We realize that heating bills may be a concern for your business this winter. The lower price of natural gas should help, but there’s more you can do to save:
- Seal off unused areas and reduce heating in storage rooms, warehouses and unoccupied areas.
- Turn off or power down office equipment when not in use. Setting PCs, monitors and copiers to sleep mode helps cut energy usage up to 50 percent.
- Perform regular maintenance on mechanical equipment. Patch leaks, clean or replace air filters, check fan belts, clean condenser coils and check refrigeration seals.
- Add strip curtains to refrigerated spaces and display cases.
- Track monthly energy costs to identify ways to save.
