How it works

An affordable additional monthly charge covers the added expense of harvesting the wind power.  Incorporating PECO WIND service into your organization’s electricity mix is simple.  PECO WIND service is sold in monthly "wind blocks" of 100 kilowatt-hours, and you can purchase any number of wind blocks to support anywhere from 1 to 100 percent of your electric usage with wind power.

Wind blocks are priced at $2.54 per block in addition to your regular energy, transmission, distribution and transition charges.  Special pricing is available to customers who are able to commit to purchasing at least 2,600 Megawatt-hours (MWh) per year (2,167 blocks per month) for a period of two years or more.

The wind energy you support is delivered directly into the Pennsylvania electric grid, reducing the need for energy from other sources. Imagine the electric grid is a giant bathtub being filled with electricity from many different faucets.  Each faucet is a different generation source, like nuclear, coal and wind.  Every time you turn on a light switch, you drain a little electricity from the tub.

As more customers sign up, more wind farms will be built in Pennsylvania. This means cleaner air and water for all of us.
