How Does e-Bill Work?
With ComEd e-Bill you can:
- Receive notice of your bill by e-mail (in most cases, depending on your method of enrolling).
- See your bill online. Once you set up your payment account, you will be able to pay it with just a click of your mouse... or you may choose to pay through any of our regular payment options.
- Schedule your e-Bill payments and adjust payment amounts to fit your needs.
In fact, why not enroll for e-Bill to view your bills online, then sign up for AutoPay, the easiest payment method ever! Your payment will be automatically processed against your bank checking account on the bill due date each month. Visit the ComEd Online Convenience Center to enroll for AutoPay and then sign up below to view your bills online.

Before beginning, check to see if you are eligible . Then sign up for e-Bill today.
You'll be surprised at how easy it it. Just follow these simple steps:
1: Enroll at CheckFree It only takes a few minutes to enroll. You will enter your personal information into a completely secure online enrollment form. Remember to make a note of your user name and password.
2: Set Up Your Payee
After you enter your personal information, you can choose from the list of companies that offer free online billing, starting with ComEd. You also select whether you want your e-bill sent to your personal or business e-mail address or whether you would prefer to have it electronically delivered to the CheckFree site with no e-mail notification.
3: Receive Your e-Bill
It takes four to six weeks to receive your first ComEd e-Bill (depending on your billing cycle) by e-mail. You can click a box on the e-mail to view your bill, or you can go directly to the CheckFree site to view your bills at any time by clicking " Go Scout !" and logging in with your user name and password.
4: Pay Your e-Bill
Click on the link provided with your e-mail payment notice, or sign in online at MyCheckFree.com.
- After signing in (by entering information in the box labeled "I'm already registered"), you will see a screen that lists all of your ebills and their status.
- At the far right side of the bill information, there is a button that says: File E-bill| View E-bill .
- If you click on View E-bill , you will be able to see all of your bill detail information. The first screen displays your charges. By scrolling down this page you can see how much energy you have used.
- At the upper right on the bill detail page, you can link to additional pages with Meter Information (usage history and actual meter readings), copies of the bill inserts and special offers. The links look like this: | Charges | Meter Info | ComEd Information | ComEd Special Offers |
For Better Service:
- If you already have direct debit automatic payment for your ComEd bill, you can view your bill but should not make any payments online. Your e-mail notification will show $ -0- amount due and your payment will continue to be automatically deducted from your account.
- Until you receive your first e-bill, we recommend you continue to pay your regular bill as it comes due.
- You will receive notification via e-mail when ComEd has processed your e-bill setup. Remember that, depending on your bill date, you will receive both a paper bill and an online bill in the first period after you enroll. After the first period you will receive the electronic bill only.
- If you like to keep hard copies, you can print the electronic version.
- When you receive your eBill notice, be sure to click on the link at the top right side of the bill to view bill details, and check out important customer messages.
Eligibility
ComEd is not able to offer online billing for certain customers. You are not eligible for ComEd online billing if any of the following apply to you:
- You are currently on postcard billing, or send in your own meter readings.
- You receive large print or Braille billing.
- You receive the single bill option from a different energy supplier under Open Access.
- You are a very new ComEd customer within the first few days after requesting service.
Note that customers who are not eligible for free eBill service may enroll with "Pay Anyone" online payment services for billing and payment unrelated to your ComEd bill.
