There's Money In Your Old Working Second Refrigerator

If you've got an older, working second refrigerator or freezer parked out in your garage keeping your soda pop or ice cream cold - it's probably costing you more money than you think. Did you know that it could use up to five times more electricity than a newer model, consuming nearly $150 in energy each year? With this in mind, it doesn't make sense to hold on to it. Especially when ComEd will:
- Pay you $25 each for up to two refrigerators or freezers.
- Have it hauled away.
- Dispose of it responsibly - dismantling it and recycling its parts in an environmentally friendly way. For more information on the recycling process, please click here.
ComEd and JACO Environmental have teamed up to offer this unique program designed to save energy and help the environment. To qualify for recycling, your refrigerators and/or freezer must be:
- Between 10 and 30 cubic feet in size.
- Empty and working at the time of pick-up.
- Accessible with a clear path for removal by contractor.
We'll also pick up and recycle your old working room air conditioners along with your refrigerator or freezer. So if you want to get rid of an old refrigerator or freezer - and the costs that go with them - enroll online or call us to schedule a pick-up at 1-888-806-2273.
Program funding is limited. Participation will be on a first-come, first-served basis until funds are exhausted.
