Reliable Electricity and a Strategic Central Midwest Location!

ComEd’s ability to provide safe and reliable electricity contributes to the quality of life in Northern Illinois and is a key component of overall economic development.  Without a robust electrical system in place, Chicago and Northern Illinois would be unable to effectively compete for new business expansions in the global economy and existing businesses would be less competitive.

ComEd’s peak system demand is just over 22,000 MW.  In order to keep pace with the growing needs of business and consumers in our service territory, ComEd has invested more than $3 billion since 2001 as part of our ongoing commitment to improving system-wide reliability through a transmission and distribution infrastructure modernization and enhancement program to ensure the continued safe and reliable delivery of electricity.  The benefits of the reliability improvement plan are already evident – the average number of customer outages is down significantly (44% fewer outages) as are the length of customer outages (53% faster restoration times when outages do occur).
