Experienced Leaders Fill Key Roles at TMI 

 Ricl Libra and Mark Newcomer named to leadership roles at Three Mile Island 

 

Londonderry Twp., Rick Libra has been named Three Mile Island Generating Station Site Vice President, replacing Glen Earl Chick, who is retiring. Libra brings a wealth of industry experience to his new position, having served as Work Management Director and most recently, Plant Manager at Three Mile Island.
Libra will assume his new duties on Monday, Jan. 30 and his primary responsibility will be to oversee the safe and reliable operation of the plant and ensure that the public is well informed about station operations.

“Today’s leadership announcement is a great example of how employee development and succession planning can be used effectively to ensure safe and reliable operations,” said Chris Mudrick, Senior Vice President of Mid-Atlantic Operations. “Both Rick and Mark are veteran leaders focused on continuous improvement. They have a broad industry background, as well as specific TMI experience.”
Rick Libra joined Exelon in 2007, serving in two senior corporate engineering roles before joining TMI’s senior leadership team in 2009.  He has served as Plant Manager at the station since April, 2010.  Rick earned his Senior Reactor Operator certification at Peach Bottom Atomic Power Station and holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Johns Hopkins University as well as a master’s degree in the same field from Washington State.

TMI Work Management Director, Mark Newcomer will move up and replace Libra as Plant Manager. Mark began his career in the industry in 1986 and has held senior engineering manager positions at Oyster Creek and Peach Bottom. Mark also served as Director of Outage Services for several years. He holds an SRO certification as well as a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Rutgers University.
