POTTSTOWN, Pa. - Operators at Limerick Generating Station manually shut down Unit 2 at 9:10 A.M today in response to a support system for the electrical generator not operating properly. Station personnel are working to resolve the problem and restore the unit to service.
The plant responded as expected, safely and without incident. There is no risk to the public and no injuries associated with the shutdown. Limerick Unit 1 continues to operate at full power.
Limerick Generating Station is located approximately 21 miles northwest of Philadelphia. With both units at full power, the site can produce enough carbon-free electricity for 2 million homes.
