MARSEILLES, Ill. (Nov. 3, 2008) — Exelon Nuclear’s LaSalle County Generating Station will host a Community Information Night Monday, Nov. 9. The event is a one-on-one forum with the public, designed to inform and update residents on current events at the station and nuclear energy issues.

The event is open to the public and will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. at Seneca High School, located at 307 E. Scott Street.

Exelon representatives, technical experts, and officials from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission will be on hand to provide information on nuclear energy topics including plant operations, spent fuel storage, safety, security, the environment and community outreach efforts. There will also be take-away information, and food and refreshments will be served.

“Exelon Nuclear strives to be a good neighbor,” said Dave Wozniak, site vice president. “This forum will provide local residents the opportunity to ask questions and learn more about LaSalle Station and nuclear energy.”

LaSalle County Generating Station is located approximately 75 miles southwest of Chicago.  With both units at full power, the site produces more than 2,200 megawatts net, which is enough electricity for 2.3 million homes. This year alone, LaSalle Generating Station has donated more than $50,000 to a wide range of organizations, including charitable contributions to help LaSalle and Grundy Counties improve environmental, educational and recreational initiatives within local communities.
