Marseilles, Ill. (Oct. 15, 2009) - Operators at Exelon Nuclear's LaSalle County Generating Station returned Unit 2 to service at 11:09 a.m. CT today after repairing a valve that is used to remove moisture from the main steam system.
The station had been taken off-line Monday, Oct. 12. Plant personnel completed the required repair and performed additional preventive maintenance activities while the unit was offline.
LaSalle County Generating Station is located approximately 75 miles southwest of Chicago. With both units at full power, the site produces more than 2,200 megawatts net, which is enough electricity for 2.3 million homes.
