Peach Bottom Unit 3 Returns To Service Following Maintenance
Peach Bottom Atomic Power Station's Unit 3 returned to service today at 9:39 a.m. EDT.
DELTA, PA (March 15, 2009) - Peach Bottom Atomic Power Station's Unit 3 returned to service today at 9:39 a.m. EDT.
Operators safely took the Unit 3 generator off-line at 12:39 a.m. EDT to perform maintenance on the turbine control system, which adjusts the speed of the turbine. During the maintenance outage, two circuit cards within the system’s circuitry were replaced to ensure the turbine control system continues to perform reliably.
Unit 2 continues to operate at full power.
Peach Bottom Atomic Power Station is located on the west bank of the Conowingo Pond (Susquehanna River) in York County. Units 2 and 3 are boiling water reactors. Unit 2 is capable of generating approximately 1,138 net megawatts and Unit 3 is capable of generating approximately 1,140 net megawatts.
