LaSalle County Generating Station employees and the company continued their tradition of generous community support by raising $198,000 in its annual United Way Campaign.
MARSEILLES, IL. (Feb. 20, 2009) - LaSalle County Generating Station employees and the company continued their tradition of generous community support by raising $198,000 in its annual United Way Campaign.
LaSalle Station employees have a long tradition of supporting their community and this year they again participated through the company’s payroll deduction program. Their donations will go to several local United Way chapters, including Eastern LaSalle County, Fox Valley, Illinois Valley, Grundy County, Metropolitan Chicago, Pontiac, Streator, and Will County.
“LaSalle Station has truly embraced the spirit of giving over the past several years," said Shelli Ocepek, executive director, United Way of Eastern LaSalle County. “The United Way depends on donations, along with the hours of volunteerism from local businesses and individuals. I know I speak on behalf of the entire community by saying we are grateful for LaSalle’s continued support.”
The station also raised $8,900 in raffles associated with the campaign. The money was divided and donated to these organizations: We Care of Grundy County, LaSalle Food Pantry, Seneca Food Pantry, Coal City Food Pantry, Wenona Food Pantry, Joliet Hospice, Guardian Angel Home in Joliet, Streator Unlimited and the ADV / SAS shelter.
“Our company and employees understand the value of partnering with local organizations to make our communities a better place to live,” added Dan Enright, LaSalle site vice president. “I am extremely proud of the generosity displayed by all of the people here at LaSalle.”
In addition to the $198,000 raised by employees in its annual campaign, LaSalle Station is the signature sponsor of the United Way of Eastern LaSalle County’s Labor of Love event, which is a one-day home improvement blitz.
LaSalle County Generating Station is located approximately 75 miles southwest of Chicago. In addition to its United Way Campaign, in 2008 the station donated $69,000 to a wide range of local organizations, including charitable contributions to help LaSalle and Grundy Counties improve environmental, educational and recreational initiatives within local communities.
