DELTA, PA (Jan. 21, 2009) - Peach Bottom Atomic Power Station operators safely took the Unit 3 generator off-line on Wednesday, Jan. 21 at 4:00 a.m. EST to replace a main power transformer.
Replacement of the transformer is needed to ensure electricity generated by the plant is delivered reliably. The power transformer is one of three needed to transfer electricity from the plant to the power grid.
Unit 2 continues to operate at full power.
Peach Bottom Atomic Power Station is located on the west bank of the Conowingo Pond (Susquehanna River) in York County. Units 2 and 3 are boiling water reactors. Unit 2 is capable of generating approximately 1,138 net megawatts and Unit 3 is capable of generating approximately 1,140 net megawatts.
