Operators at Exelon Nuclear's Oyster Creek Generating Station safely returned the station to service today at 3:52 a.m. ET after completing a maintenance outage.
The plant went offline Monday, Dec. 20 to perform maintenance on one of the unit's five recirculation pumps. Recirculation pumps move water through the reactor during power operations.
Oyster Creek is a 636-megawatt boiling water reactor capable of providing the power needed for about 600,000 homes. The station is located about 50 miles east of Philadelphia and 75 miles south of New York City.
