POTTSTOWN, PA (June 5, 2012) - Exelon's Limerick Generating Station Unit 2 returned to full power at approximately 1 p.m EDT today following a successful planned maintenance outage. During the outage, workers replaced a turbine control valve, a component that regulates steam to the turbine. The work performed will ensure that the plant can continue to run reliably during the peak summer season ahead.
Limerick Unit 1 continued to operate at full power during the outage. Limerick Generating Station is a dual-unit nuclear power facility located approximately 21 miles northwest of Philadelphia. With both units at full power, the site can produce enough carbon-free electricity for 2 million homes.
