Byron Generating Station Unit 2 Returns to Full Power

BYRON, Ill. – Byron Generating Station Unit 2 returned to full power on Friday following repairs to an electrical component.

Operators removed Unit 2 from service on Wednesday, Oct. 12 when water levels inside the unit’s steam generators declined. The system was repaired, inspected and tested before returning Unit 2 to service.

Byron Station is located in Ogle County, Ill., about 25 miles southwest of Rockford. With both units at full power, the site produces enough electricity for about 2.3 million homes.
