Pottstown, Pennsylvania - Exelon Nuclear's Limerick Generating Station Unit 2 reduced power and removed its generator from service at 5:38 a.m. ET Tuesday, March 9 for planned maintenance.
While Unit 2 is offline, station personnel will make repairs to the Stator Water Cooling (SWC) system on the non-nuclear side of the plant. The SWC provides cooling water to several components within the turbine generator. Limerick Generating Station is located approximately 21 miles northwest of Philadelphia. With both units at full power, the site can produce enough carbon-free electricity for 2 million homes.
