POTTSTOWN, PA (October 28, 2009) - Exelon Nuclear's Limerick Generating Station and its employees recently donated $3,000 to the Freedom Valley YMCA to help the agency keep Pottstown area residents healthy.  This gift was one of several donations that were made possible through the funds that employees raised at the Sixth Annual Limerick Charity Golf Outing.

This donation will be used toward providing financial assistance to families that wish to continue their membership or childcare at the YMCA but would otherwise be unable to afford the membership.

"Contributions from local companies, such as Exelon Nuclear, are one of the main financial sources that we use at the Freedom Valley YMCA to help support our communities," said Jo Ann Short, Vice President, strategic initiatives.  "This donation is a testament to the ongoing commitment that Limerick Generating Station and its employees have to our community."

Limerick Generating Station has a long standing relationship with the Freedom Valley YMCA.  In 2006, Limerick donated $10,000 to the YMCA's Pottstown Branch. The five YMCA branches of the Freedom Valley YMCA are Audubon, Phoenixville, Pottstown, Spring Valley and Upper Perkiomen Valley.

Chris Mudrick, Limerick Generation Station site vice president, said, "The YMCA is an asset to our communities and helps improve the lives of local residents.  Limerick employees are able to take advantage of the YMCA's services as the majority of our employees live nearby in Montgomery and Chester counties."

The annual Limerick Charity Golf Outing raised $65,000 for local charities in 2009, and has raised more than $300,000 for non-profit organizations over its history.
