LaSalle Generating Station Warming Up Winter For Area Children Station donates 104 new winter coats locally
LaSalle County Generating Station donated 104 new winter coats to the Youth Service Bureau of Illinois Valley, the Marseilles Police department and local families to help keep area children warm this winter.
MARSEILLES, Ill. (Jan. 12, 2009) - LaSalle County Generating Station donated 104 new winter coats to the Youth Service Bureau of Illinois Valley, the Marseilles Police department and local families to help keep area children warm this winter.
“This gift will extend well beyond the Youth Service Bureau and will touch many people in our community,” said Dave McClure, executive director of the Youth Service Bureau, a community based, not-for-profit, child welfare agency established in 1976. “We are blessed to have an organization like LaSalle Station in our community to help out especially in needy times like these.”
LaSalle Station’s donation was made through a partnership with Operation Warm. Since 1998, Operation Warm has provided new winter coats to children in need through strategic partnerships with donors and community organizations. Operation Warm’s vision is that every child wearing a new winter coat is healthy, is able to attend school regularly and has strong self-esteem.
In addition to the station’s partnership with Operation Warm, LaSalle Station has an annual holiday gift drive in which the station donates gifts to those in need during the holidays. The remaining coats were donated to several families who submitted their names to the holiday gift drive.
“We know the new winter coats will make the cold winter months a bit warmer for kids in our community,” said Dan Enright, LaSalle Station site vice president.
