John   Barnes

Senior Vice President, Exelon Generation & President, Exelon Power

 

​​​​​​​​​​​In his role as president of Exelon Power, Barnes oversees the operations and maintenance of Exelon Generation's fossil (natural gas and oil), landfill gas, hydro, wind and solar-powered fleet of generating assets that are capable of generating more than 15,000 megawatts of electricity in 18 states and Alberta, Canada.​

 

Professional History

Prior to this role, Barnes was chief operating officer, Exelon Power overseeing the safe, efficient and reliable operations of generating stations located in Exelon Power’s Mid-Atlantic, Northeast and South/West Regions.

Before this, Barnes was vice president of Power’s Business Operations, where he was responsible for the business unit’s capital and operations and maintenance spending. He also had oversight over the analysis and development of the long-term strategy for business unit’s assets.

 

Civic Involvement

Barnes is a member of the Board of Trustees for the Williamson College of the Trades in Media, PA. 

 

Education

Barnes received a bachelor’s degree in Organizational Dynamics from Immaculata University and an associate’s degree in Power Technology from the Williamson School.
